Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor who is best well-known for her character of Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she earned the Emmy Award. The most notable role she has played is her role as a character in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. Her upbringing was within a household that included four brothers. While she had a childhood goal of becoming journalist, it was not until her high school years that she began modeling. After moving away from New York City and gaining an experience working with commercials at New York did she achieve the career as aspiring court reporters. Her first film role was as a teenager in All My Children, a soap-opera from 1981. Delaney appeared in a number of television shows, films as well as dramas in the years since. While she has a successful professional life, Delaney's personal life is not successful and happy. The talented actress struggled to overcome alcoholism and had two marriages that failed. She was divorced in 2005 and was denied custody of the sole child she had.
