Anushka enrolled in Elite Model Management after graduating and underwent training by Prasad Bidapa, the stylist consultant. In 2017, Anushka made her modelling debut for the designer Wendell Rodricks's Les Vamps Show at Lakme Fashion Week and was picked by the designer to be his finale model at spring 2007's Spring Collection. Since her debut as a model in Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did numerous campaigns for various brands, her campaigns for their Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio etc. Anushka Sharma, along with her modeling career joined an acting school and began giving auditions for movies. Anushka Sharma's first acting role was in the 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi featuring Shah Rukh Khan. In preparation for her screening, Anushka Sharma spent all day. She was later contracted to do three movies as part of the Yash Raj Films label. The film in which she starred played the role of a young bride to a middle-aged male (the character Shah Rukh Khan was playing). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka was a part of the cast along with Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang and Vir Das in the movie Badmash Company. This movie was met with mixed reviews. Anushka Sharma was the lead in the same movie "Band Baaja Baaraat. The actress played the role of a Punjabi woman of middle class, who has her own wedding business. It received a favourable review, and was considered an overnight and a huge success. Anushka's contract to make three films with Yash Raj Films was completed by Band Baaja Baaraat.
