She brought both cultures together and helped bring Tejano music to the forefront. Her untimely death splintered her rise in popularity, and it is what happens often the moment a brilliant, warm star dies far too young has left many mourning all the untapped potential. Fans are enthused over the years to dig in and work harder to ensure that her achievements will not be forgotten. Selena's shooting death sparked an emotional response within the Latino community that is similar in a way to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena was a hugely popular Latino performer across North America. Her music transcended boundaries and inspired both young people and older adults. Selena was an asexual glamorous performer on stage who was sometimes called the Latina Madonna.
